Fire Extinguisher Inspections & Service

An inspection determines what needs to be done to a Fire Extinguisher so it can be Certified. A fire extinguisher must meet the requirements of the manufacturer's specifications & the Statues & Rules set by The State of Texas. A Certification tag, more commonly referred to as Inspection tag, is attached to the fire extinguisher after all requirements are meet. The three most common requirements are more fully described below.

Annual Maintenance

A Fire extinguisher shall have an Annual Maintenance performed by an individual that meets the Statues & Rules of the State of Texas, as seen above.

The Fire Extinguisher inspection tag looks like this. Holes are punched in the Mo. & Yr. of the inspection.

Six Year Maintenance

A Fire Extinguisher shall have a 6YR Maintenance performed by an individual that meets the Statues & Rules of the State of Texas, as seen above.
An internal inspection is done at this time and the powder removed and replaced to prevent packing of the powder due to the forces of gravity and vibration.

This is a copy of a Combination inspection sticker . Holes are punched in the 6 YR. MAINT., month & year. Then the inspection label shall be affixed.

12 Year Maintenance (Hydro)

The 12 yearMaintence is essentially a rebuild of the Extinguisher. It is commonly known as a Hydro. It consist of a Hydrostatic Test that is performed to insure the integrity of the cylinder & the replacement of internal parts.

This is a copy of a Combination inspection sticker . Holes are punched in the Hydrostatic Test., month, year & test presure.Then the inspection label shall be affixed.
